Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) was founded in 1979 and chartered by Act 76 of 1993(CAP. A26 LFN, 2004).
The Association operates a collegiate system of training through teaching and examination. This is achieved through its training arm, Nigerian College of Accountancy.
ANAN is a Member of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), Pan African Federation of Accountants (PAFA), Association of Accountancy Bodies in West Africa (ABWA), Association of Professional Bodies in Nigeria (APBN). ANAN is also a twining partner with the Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Ireland (CPA Ireland), Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) , CPA Australia among others.
The Association is empowered to issue Practising Licence to its members who have satisfied the requirements for Practice as public Accountants and Auditors. Members of the Association holding valid Practising Licence are qualified for appointments as Auditors of companies in accordance with Companies and Allied Matters Act. They are also qualified for appointments as Auditors and Accountants of entities in both Public and Private Sectors.
To update its Practitioners,the Association conducts a mandatory Professional Practice Forum(MPPF) twice a year where Practitioners are exposed to current issues and developments in the profession besides providing opportunities for them to share their experiences and discus challenges
